Temporary Remote Rn information

What is a temporary remote RN?

Temporary Remote RNs are registered nurses who work remotely on a temporary or contract basis, often for healthcare organizations, telehealth providers, or staffing agencies. Their responsibilities include providing patient care, conducting virtual assessments, offering health education, and coordinating care—primarily through phone or digital platforms. These roles are ideal for nurses seeking flexible schedules or short-term assignments, and they typically require an active RN license and experience in clinical practice. Temporary Remote RNs play a crucial role in expanding access to care, especially for patients in rural or underserved areas.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a temporary remote RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Temporary Remote RN, you need a current RN license, solid clinical assessment abilities, and recent nursing experience. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure messaging systems is typically required. Strong communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills help you deliver quality care and collaborate effectively while working remotely. These skills and qualifications are essential for ensuring patient safety, maintaining compliance, and providing effective care in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced by temporary remote RNs, and how can they be managed?

Temporary Remote RNs often encounter challenges such as adapting quickly to new healthcare systems, building rapport with patients virtually, and managing time efficiently without onsite supervision. To address these, it's important to familiarize yourself with the employer's electronic health record (EHR) system early, actively communicate with both patients and team members, and establish a structured daily routine. Proactively seeking support from supervisors and utilizing available training resources can also help streamline the transition and ensure a successful remote assignment.

What is the difference between Temporary Remote Rn vs Permanent Remote Rn?

Job description

About Lark

At Lark Health, we’re leading the way into a new era of cardiometabolic care, leveraging advanced AI techniques–including deterministic and generative models–to provide scalable, affordable, and compassionate care. We help our healthcare partners manage over 30 million lives and prevent conditions like obesity, hypertension, type II diabetes, and behavioral health. Our platform delivers real-time personalized counseling and health monitoring for each patient. By providing compelling and actionable insights, we empower every user to live happier, healthier lives. Come join our team!

The Role

We\'re looking for an RN with deep experience building digital clinical operations to help design and scale the operational backbone of our care program. This is not a traditional nursing management role, it’s an opportunity to translate clinical expertise into software-enabled workflows that power safe, scalable, AI-enabled care. You\'ll partner closely with clinical leadership, product, engineering and data to design the clinical logic that drives patient triage, AI-assisted decision support, escalation pathways, and care routing. You’ll own the day to day design, documentation, implementation, and quality assurance of these systems, ensuring they perform safely and effectively as care evolves.

What You’ll Do

Clinical Workflow & Triage Design

  • Design and continuously improve software-enabled clinical workflows for virtual and asynchronous care.

  • Build clinical decision logic that powers patient routing, AI-assisted triage, alerting, and escalation for urgent symptoms, abnormal results, medication concerns, and other clinical events.

  • Evaluate workflows against edge cases, failure modes, and patient safety scenarios prior to launch

Clinical Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain clear, version-controlled documentation of clinical workflows, decision trees, escalation pathways, and operational protocols.

  • Document rationale for workflow changes and prepare concise summaries for clinical review and leadership approval.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Build and operate an ongoing quality assurance program for digital clinical workflows and escalation performance.

  • Monitor workflow accuracy, protocol adherence, routing quality, escalation timeliness, and operational safety metrics.

  • Analyze operational and clinical data to identify trends, workflow gaps, and opportunities to improve patient outcomes.

  • Lead recurring QA reviews, incident analyses, and corrective action planning in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Clinical Leadership.

Cross-Functional Product Partnership

  • Serve as the clinical operations subject matter expert for Product and Engineering teams developing virtual care experiences.

  • Translate clinical needs into clear functional requirements and operational specifications.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to design scalable, technology-enabled clinical workflows.

  • Identify operational risks, technical constraints, and patient safety considerations throughout the product development process.

Care Operations Support

  • Support clinical care teams operating within established virtual care workflows and escalation protocols.

  • Identify operational friction points and recommend system improvements that increase efficiency while maintaining clinical quality and patient safety.

What You\'ll Need
  • Active, unrestricted RN license (multistate/compact license preferred)

  • Experience designing or substantially improving digital clinical workflows, triage protocols, escalation pathways, or clinical decision logic

  • Experience translating clinical requirements into software-enabled workflows, functional specifications, or operational documentation

  • Strong documentation practices, including maintaining version-controlled protocols and workflow documentation

  • Experience developing or managing quality assurance programs, workflow audits, protocol adherence reviews, or clinical incident reviews

  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to balance clinical quality, patient safety, operational efficiency, and scalability

  • Experience in digital health, virtual care, remote patient monitoring, or chronic disease management

  • Telephone triage, nurse advice line, or virtual care experience

  • Experience using operational metrics and data to drive workflow optimization and continuous improvement

Working at Lark

Lark operates as a remote organization, requiring all employees to reside within the United States.  The specific salary offered to a candidate will depend on various factors, including their location, job level, and verified job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for additional compensation, such as participation in a bonus program and stock awards, where applicable.

Lark is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer. We believe that diverse teams foster innovation and add to our mission-driven culture. We strongly encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply.
