Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is a critical member of our General Ledger team and a key contributor to the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical accounting skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to collaborate effectively across our Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and broader finance functions

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-own and actively drive the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with established deadlines
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Own the preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations, resolving variances and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP
  • Serve as a key contributor to the annual financial statement audit, coordinating with external auditors and preparing requested schedules and documentation
  • Support international statutory audits, bank examinations, 401(k) audits, and other regulatory reviews as needed
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures remain compliant with applicable standards; leverage accounting research to validate or improve existing practices
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to Staff Accountant, supporting their professional development and the accuracy of their work
  • Partner with the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Supervisors to foster a cohesive, collaborative, and high-performing accounting team
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for accounting questions across the organization, building trusted relationships with stakeholders
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve controls, and increase efficiency across accounting processes
  • Play an active role in the company's ERP system implementation, including data migration support, testing, documentation, and transition to new workflows
  • Develop a deep understanding of our business model and the nuances of temporary housing program management to enhance the quality of financial reporting and analysis

  • Provide support on various accounting and finance related projects
  • Other duties as assigned by the Controller

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger and financial close
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to perform and apply relevant accounting research
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, data modeling)
  • Experience with accounting systems and ERP platforms; demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new technology
  • Experience supporting or participating in external audits (financial statement, regulatory, or compliance)
  • CPA license or active candidate status strongly preferred
  • Prior experience participating in an ERP system implementation or migration
  • Experience in a multi-entity, multi-currency, or global accounting environment
  • Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm)
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through without being prompted
  • Intellectually curious - always asking "why" and seeking to understand the business behind the numbers
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure, especially during close cycles or audit periods
  • Strong communicator who can present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Team-oriented, with a collaborative spirit and a desire to contribute to a positive team culture
