Site Manager - Mission Critical (Data Centers)

Location: Onsite – Montgomery, AL
Employment Status: Full Time | Direct Hire

The Opportunity

Site Manager – Construction Projects (Mission Critical) - responsible for managing the controls scope of work on large hyperscale data center construction projects. This role is field-based and owns subcontractor execution, installation performance, schedule adherence, financial tracking, and risk management from kickoff through commissioning and closeout.

While onsite and actively engaged in field operations, this position maintains full project management accountability — including forecasting, change management, and margin protection.

This role will work onsite in Montgomery, AL through project completion, with future relocation or travel required based on program needs.

What You’ll Do Project Execution & Field Leadership
  • Manage the electrical installation subcontractor delivering BMS and electrical monitoring systems.
  • Oversee installation activities including wire pulls, terminations, device installation, panel integration, and quality validation.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and general contractor teams to maintain schedule alignment.
  • Monitor daily manpower and productivity against budget and forecast.
  • Own subcontractor scope, labor tracking, procurement coordination, and cost control.
  • Identify and manage change conditions; support pricing and change order execution.
  • Review and track project forecasts and cost-to-complete metrics.
  • Protect gross margin through proactive risk identification and mitigation.
Risk, Quality & Compliance
  • Enforce safety standards and QMS requirements across field execution.
  • Ensure installations align with design intent and contract specifications.
  • Participate in commissioning coordination and documentation turnover.
  • Escalate schedule, scope, or cost risks appropriately.
  • Serve as primary field interface between subcontractors and Thermo leadership.
  • Provide steady leadership in high-pressure construction environments.
  • Support junior team members and promote a collaborative jobsite culture.
  • Communicate proactively with customers, trades, and internal teams.
What We’re Looking For Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent field experience).
  • 7–10+ years of experience in construction project management within electrical, controls, or automation environments.
  • Prior experience on data center or Mission Critical projects strongly preferred.
  • Strong field background required; electrical or controls installation experience preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of control system design and system interfaces.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in construction environments.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedule, cost, and change conditions.
  • Strong negotiation, decision-making, and risk mitigation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project documentation tools.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, schedule-driven construction environments.
Travel & Work Requirements
  • Working onsite in Montgomery, AL is required
  • Future project relocation may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be fit for duty at all times.
