Heath Ceramics

San Francisco, CA • On-site

$105K - $115K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 7 days ago

Job description

About Heath

Heath Ceramics is a California company making dinnerware and architectural tiles of good and enduring design for 75 years. We are design-led, with the mission of creating products of beauty and integrity, while designing, manufacturing, and running our business in a way that's better for society and our planet. Our products are designed, manufactured, and sold in our two California factories and five showrooms, ensuring accountability in our process, from beginning to end. As a Certified B Corp, we maintain high standards of social responsibility, environmental performance, and transparency. We believe in the benefits of local manufacturing and support a community of people committed to and inspired by the process of designing, making, and sharing. We believe in pay equity, full health and welfare benefits, and a place for meaningful work.
Position Summary

This is a new contract role joining the Creative team, who will work exceptionally closely with our B2B Director to develop an ecosystem of tools, collateral, processes, and digital experiences to support our growing investment in relationship-based sales.
Through observation, research, and curiosity about the existing tools and processes, you will apply design and systems thinking to develop updates, improvements, and new solutions that balance the needs of the creative team (ongoing maintenance), the sales team (ease of use and efficacy), and the client (inspiration and clarity of information).
This role will be focused exclusively on supporting our B2B teams and expected to develop a deep fluency in the sales process, the pain points, and the opportunities.

Position Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and upkeep sales tools and collateral (catalogs, presentations, documents, email templates, communication messaging)
  • Conduct research and collect user insights to develop maintainable and easy-to-use systems and processes that the tools and collateral fit within
  • Prototype and iterate on delivery method and final form that will best meet the needs of the end-user, without bias toward a particular medium or channel
  • Uphold Heath’s brand standards and core brand elements (visual design language and tone)
  • Embed within the Sales team and deeply understand their sales lifecycle and process, the complexity of a made-to-order tile manufacturing business, and the unique profile of a Heath B2B client (designers, architects, contractors, hospitality customers)
  • Champion a thoughtfully considered end-to-end customer journey by ensuring B2B tools, materials, and touchpoints work together to create a clear, consistent, and useful client experience.
  • Develop robust documentation and SOPs to enable successful adoption of new tools and deliverables
  • Oversee implementation of deliverables to ensure full-scale adoption in line with expected performance
Qualifications
  • 5+ years professional experience in a design role
  • Preference for in-house experience and a deeply iterative working process
  • Preference for experience working with trade clients (architects, interior designers, landscape architects, contractors, tile specifiers, restaurateurs, chefs) and an understanding of the B2B sales process
  • Expert in cross-functional communication, collaboration, and information gathering, particularly with non-designers
  • Expert at systems thinking; fluently designs first the ecosystems, then the deliverables that support it
  • Strong self-management skills with regard to timelines, deadlines, production workback schedules
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an encyclopedic memory (or the personal systems to approximate it)
  • Deeply curious and able to comprehensively understand a complex business (Heath Tile and Heath Hospitality), including its business logic, operations, and product assortment
  • Nice to have: strong typography and layout skills, clear communication (written, verbal, visual), illustration skills, bias toward real world testing and iterating
  • Proficient at Adobe Creative Cloud programs, Figma, Google Suite, Asana. Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS, responsive design, web accessibility.

Work Environment, Hours & Compensation

This is a temporary full-time position, 30-40 hours per week. The hours for this position are 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday with at least one day in the SF office weekly, ideally 2+ days on site at a Heath location. Remote work is available 3 days a week. The hourly range for this position is $51 - $55 per hour, based on experience.

Benefits

Heath provides sick time accruals in line with California Sick Leave requirements. We offer a great discount on all Heath Ceramics products.

Proud Equal Opportunity Employer

At Heath, we don’t just accept differences — we celebrate it, we support it. Heath is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. Our goal is to be a diverse workforce at all job levels. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
