Job description

Job Description

FlightHouse Engineering is seeking a Structures Build Engineer to help transform our designs into reality. As a Build Engineer at FHE you’ll be at the intersection of design and fabrication. If you enjoy design work but also want to get your hands dirty, you’ll fit right in.

Our programs move fast and requirements evolve — that's prototype development. At FHE you'll own your work end to end and drive solutions rather than wait for them. If you're a self-starter who communicates clearly and thrives when things are still being defined, you'll do well here.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate design intent into practical build instructions.

  • Design tooling and fixtures for rapid prototype assembly.

  • Own part and tooling procurement from sourcing through delivery — tracking orders, managing configuration changes, and communicating status to team stakeholders.

  • Manage prototype build schedules, adapt to issues in real time, and identify parallel work to keep programs moving.

  • Troubleshoot assembly and fabrication issues on the spot, working across engineering and fabrication to find fast, practical solutions

  • Work with design engineers to simplify designs for manufacturing and assembly

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field

  • Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and assembly

  • Good working knowledge of composite part fabrication using wet layup, prepreg, or VARTM methods

  • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stackup analysis

  • Must be able to manage multiple open part orders, track configuration changes, and communicate status clearly across the team

  • Position requires some domestic travel

  • Must have U.S. person status as defined by ITAR

Desired Skills:

  • SolidWorks or NX (2+ years preferred)

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate is a strong plus

  • Experience with aircraft assembly, both structures and systems

  • Familiarity with project management and scheduling tools (MS Project, SmartSheet, etc.)
