Temporary Project Engineer
Based in Anaheim , California, Select Electric is a well-established electrical construction searching for a TEMP Project Engineer. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and support to the Project Manager, Superintendents, and field foreman towards the successful planning and execution of all projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Key amongst his/her duties is the recognition that risk directly impacts the likelihood of success and that this risk must be both formally and informally measured throughout the lifetime of the project. Maintain open lines of communication.
  • Responsible for making decisions both small and large, in such a way that risk is controlled and uncertainty minimized.
  • Responsible for project document control and supporting the creation of budgets, schedules, purchase orders, and subcontracts.
  • Monitors overall quantity and quality of work performed on all assigned jobs.
  • Provides support to the billing department as needed; e.g. provide schedule of values, answer questions on applied costs or billing requirements per the contract.
  • Supports the process for changes orders and other circumstances changing the scope of work and payment for such changes.
  • Monitors contract compliance for each job to ensure the company is protected regarding liabilities matters and liens (collection matters).
  • Supports the technical advisor for the project.
  • Participates in resolving difficult issues or start-up
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Follows and ensures compliance with all company safety program requirements.
  • Promotes safety among peers, subordinates and supervisors.
  • Performs additional assignments at the direction of a Project Manager and/or Sr. Project Manager/Division Manager.

EDUCATION:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Construction Management Bachelor of Science certification preferred but not required.
  • A 4-year engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • Primavera Scheduling or similar scheduling software preferred.
  • Accubid or similar estimating software experience preferred.
  • Spectrum program, or equivalent, experience preferred.

LICENSE: Possess or ability to obtain a valid class C California driver's license and a California Electrical Certification (Journeyman's License).
EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in similar type construction environment required.
  • Proven experience in working with construction personnel and projects.
  • Proven experience in understanding contracts to ensure compliance with terms and protect the company's rights in lien and collection matters.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, planning and analytical skills required.
  • Must possess a combination of skills including an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve interpersonal conflicts as well as more systematic management skills.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit for prolong periods.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, required.

Temporary Part- Time Position. Maximum 8 Months.
Working conditions consists of temperature-controlled buildings or offices, outside elements such as rain, cold, and heat when working with in open environments, driving from various locations or attending meetings, etc. Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on work location.
