Johns Hopkins Intrastaff is the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, providing temporary support to a variety of the Johns Hopkins locations. Location: Bayview Medical - Cardiology OP Clinic
Hours/Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $21-$25/hour (based on experience)
Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant provides direct support in the examination and treatment of patients in an ambulatory clinical setting under the supervision of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. This role is essential to ensuring efficient patient flow, high-quality clinical care, and excellent patient experiences. Responsibilities include patient preparation, clinical support, documentation, specimen handling, and coordination of care.
  • Room patients; obtain vital signs; perform medication reconciliation
  • Prepare and assist patients during examinations and procedures, including chaperoning
  • Administer vaccines; perform venipuncture; collect and process specimens
  • Assist providers with procedures and in-basket patient messages and care requests
  • Review charts and obtain labs, imaging, and test results prior to visits
  • Accurately document care in the medical record
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and safe exam and procedure rooms
  • Ensure efficient patient flow and communicate clinical changes to providers
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and assist with staff orientation as needed

Qualifications
  • At least 6 months of CMA experience is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA or NRCMA) from an approved agency is required.
  • Valid BLS CPR certification required upon hire; and recertification required every two years.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff
