Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced quotation engineer to prepare accurate and competitive price

quotations in response to customer inquiries and requests for proposals (RFPs). Work closely

with sales, engineering, and procurement teams to develop cost estimates, pricing strategies,

and technical proposals that meet customer requirements and maximize profitability.

Competence:

  • Be orderly, organized, results-oriented, quickly responsive, and able to coordinate work; must handle advanced technology tools (spreadsheets, worksheets, etc.); must be competent, based on appropriate education, training, or experience in overall performance.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools, such as CAD (Computer-Aided Design), costing software, and MS Excel for technical calculations and data analysis
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical requirements and develop innovative solutions
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • The work environment is a typical office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Travel is required.

Qualifications/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical or related fields.
  • Previous experience in a similar role with a strong background in cost estimation, pricing analysis, and technical proposal development
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment preferred

Functions and Scope

Promote and maintain the organization and work in a standardized manner according to ISO

9001.

  1. Quotation Preparation:
    1. Review customer inquiries, specifications, and drawings to understand project requirements and scope of work.
    2. b. Prepare detailed cost estimates, bill of materials (BOMs), and pricing proposals based on engineering calculations, material costs, labor rates, and overhead expenses.
  2. Technical Proposal Development:
    1. Collaborate with engineering and product management teams to develop technical proposals, solution designs, and value-added services that address customer needs and differentiate the company's offerings.
    2. Incorporate technical specifications, performance requirements, and industry standards into proposals to demonstrate product capabilities and compliance.
  3. Pricing Strategy and Analysis:
    1. Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and customer budgets to develop pricing strategies and models that maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the marketplace.
    2. Conduct cost analysis, price benchmarking, and margin analysis to optimize pricing decisions and identify opportunities for cost reduction and value enhancement.
  4. Bid Management:
    1. Manage the bid process from receipt of customer inquiries to submission of proposals, ensuring adherence to deadlines, quality standards, and customer requirements.
    2. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, procurement, and finance, to gather necessary information and resources for bid preparation.
  5. Customer Relationship Management:
    1. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer inquiries regarding quotations, technical specifications, and solution offerings.
    2. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their technical requirements, preferences, and feedback to tailor quotations and proposals accordingly.
  6. Continuous Improvement:
    1. Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the quotation process, including automation of tasks, standardization of templates, and implementation of best practices.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $145000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
