About Us:
LayerZero Power Systems LLC. is a globally recognized leader in providing state-of-the-art power distribution solutions for critical industries. With a strong focus on reliability, innovation, and customer satisfaction, we deliver advanced power systems products that ensure uninterrupted and dependable power supply in mission-critical environments. LayerZero Power Systems is on a trajectory of sustained growth, with a loyal customer base of existing Fortune 100 customers and an expanding portfolio of new customers.
Position Description:
We're seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing operations, with a heavy focus on fabrication processes and upstream quality control. This role is deeply connected to the production floor, ensuring that electrical distribution equipment is built reliably, meets design intent, and performs exactly as expected. You'll be a key problem-solver and a technical resource who helps drive quality outcomes across the organization.
Primary Duties:
• Lead structured root-cause investigations using tools such as Fishbone diagrams, FMEAs, and 5-Why analysis to eliminate recurring product and process issues.
• Drive quality improvements by analyzing production data, performing capability studies (Cpk, Ppk), and identifying actions that enhance process performance.
• Implement and maintain statistical monitoring methods to support critical-to-quality characteristics and electrical verification testing.
• Respond quickly to quality issues on the production floor, coordinating containment, corrective actions, and long-term preventive solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure electrical designs are accurately translated into production processes.
• Improve manufacturing reliability by identifying process weaknesses and recommending engineering or procedural changes.
• Prepare and maintain clear, accurate documentation, reports, and analysis summaries.
• Support continuous improvement activities and quality projects that enhance product performance and reduce defects.
• Use statistical software (e.g., Minitab) and Excel to analyze trends, evaluate test data, and prepare presentations for cross-functional teams.
• Participate in the development and refinement of inspection methods, testing procedures, and quality standards for electrical products.
• Engage daily with production personnel to monitor process performance, address issues, and drive a culture of quality on the manufacturing floor.
Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or industrial) required.
Skills & Experience:
• 4-7 years in a manufacturing quality role (experience with build-to-order electrical equipment is a strong plus).
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
• Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities (pivot tables, trending, data analysis).
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings.
• Excellent documentation, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with ERP systems.
Preferred Skills:
• Direct background in the fabrication, inspection, and quality control of powder coated sheet metal and copper bus bar assemblies.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
• Background in electrical assembly.
• Experience with industry quality tools (e.g., PPAP, APQP).
• Ability to work across a variety of software platforms.
What We Offer:
• Competitive pay with performance incentives
• 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision
• 401(k) with company match
• 3 weeks PTO, 10 paid holidays, and 2 floating holidays
Why You Will Love Working with Us:
