Job description

Power Quality Engineer (Remote Position)

Role Summary

We are seeking a Power Quality Engineer with a specialized focus on electrical power quality diagnostics and data analysis. In this role, you will analyze raw power quality logger data to identify anomalies—such as voltage sags/swells, transients, harmonic distortion, and grounding issues—and evaluate their impact on sensitive medical equipment (including MRIs, CT scanners, and Ultrasound machines).

Unlike traditional field service, equipment maintenance, or general electrical contracting roles, this is a dedicated technical analysis and reporting position. You will translate complex waveform files and meter logs into clear, actionable technical reports for medical facility teams, vendors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data & Waveform Analysis: Analyze continuous power quality data files and event logs captured by field meters to diagnose complex electrical anomalies.
  • Technical Assessment: Conduct root-cause assessments of sags, swells, transients, high-frequency noise, harmonic distortion, and neutral-to-ground voltage issues affecting sensitive imaging systems.
  • Report Generation: Create detailed, structured, and professional technical reports utilizing our specialized templates, scripts, and reporting guidelines.
  • Client & Team Collaboration: Communicate analytical findings clearly to cross-functional teams, clinical engineers, and site managers to guide remediation efforts.
  • Quality & Accuracy: Consistently meet project turnaround deadlines while maintaining rigorous standards for data accuracy and reporting precision.
Qualifications & RequirementsEssential Technical Skills
  • Mandatory PQ Software & Hardware Proficiency: Must have demonstrable, hands-on experience interpreting data from industry-standard power quality analyzers (Dranetz, Fluke 435/1770 series, Megger) and utilizing dedicated diagnostic software (Dran-View, Fluke Energy Analyze Plus). Candidates without this specific software/hardware background will not be considered.
  • Raw Waveform & Event Log Mastery: Proven, day-to-day experience isolating complex power anomalies from multi-day raw waveform files and meter logs.
  • Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with power quality and grounding guidelines, including IEEE 1159, IEEE 519, and CBEMA / ITIC curves.
Education & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred (or equivalent practical/military electrical training).
  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of dedicated, hands-on power quality data analysis experience. Note: General biomedical equipment maintenance, medical device field service, or standard electrical contracting does not meet the requirements for this analytical role.
  • Job Stability: Proven track record of career stability and multi-year longevity in prior technical roles.
Professional Skills
  • Technical Writing: Exceptional written communication skills with experience producing structured technical documentation or engineering reports.
  • Medical / Healthcare Familiarity: Strong ability to read and interpret electrical site specifications for medical equipment (MRI, CT, X-Ray) is a major plus.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong critical thinking skills with an ability to isolate root causes from complex, multi-day data logs.
  • Remote Independence: Proven ability to manage deadlines and maintain high detail orientation in a remote work environment.
Physical Requirements & Travel
  • Work Environment: Remote / Desk-based role requiring extended periods of computer-based data review and analysis.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to company headquarters in New Hampshire.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Benefit package including health, dental, and vision
  • Paid vacation
  • 40+ Hours per week (semi-flexible hours)
  • Pay $85,000.00 -$100,000.00 depending on experience
