Job description

The Quality Engineer supports the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System for the manufacturing of electromechanical and power electronics systems. This role focuses on manufacturing quality, product validation, reliability support, and customer quality activities to ensure products meet internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The Quality Engineer works closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and supplier quality teams to support the consistent production of reliable and high-performance power conversion systems.
Requirements
Quality Management System
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System aligned with international quality standards, including maintaining quality procedures, supporting internal and external audits, assisting with Corrective and Preventive Action activities, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Manufacturing and Product Quality
  • Support quality activities throughout the manufacturing lifecycle of electromechanical assemblies including power conversion systems, inverter cabinets, power electronics modules, control electronics, and integrated electromechanical systems, ensuring manufacturing stability, product conformance, and consistent performance of complex power electronics assemblies used in energy and grid infrastructure applications.
  • Implement and maintain process quality controls and control plans to ensure manufacturing stability and product conformance, while monitoring manufacturing process capability and key performance indicators such as First Pass Yield, defect rates, rework, scrap, and production yield to identify opportunities for improvement.

Process and Manufacturing Audits
  • Support manufacturing process controls to ensure compliance with the Process Audit Standard VDA 6.3 and readiness for internal and external process audits, including participating in process audits, supporting corrective actions related to audit findings, and assisting in evaluating production readiness and process stability.

Product Validation and Verification
  • Support product validation and verification activities including functional testing, electrical performance verification, environmental testing, and reliability testing, ensuring products meet defined specifications and quality requirements prior to production release.

Customer Quality and Field Performance
  • Support investigation and resolution of customer quality issues and field failures by participating in structured problem-solving methodologies including Eight Disciplines Problem Solving, A3 Problem Solving Methodology, Root Cause Analysis, and Human Error Root Cause Analysis, while assisting in implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Reliability Engineering and Failure Analysis
  • Support reliability improvement initiatives for electromechanical products by participating in failure analysis activities related to manufacturing defects or field failures and analyzing reliability and field performance data to identify opportunities for product and process improvements.

Continuous Improvement
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve manufacturing quality, production yield, product reliability, and operational efficiency, while monitoring key manufacturing indicators such as First Pass Yield, defect rates, rework, and scrap levels to drive process improvement initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to support Design for Quality, Design for Manufacturability, and Design for Assembly principles during product development and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Work closely with operations teams to support production quality control and manufacturing process improvements while ensuring quality standards are consistently applied across production processes.
  • Partner with the Supplier Quality and Development organization when supplier-related issues impact manufacturing operations.

Experience Requirements:
  • 7+ years of experience in quality engineering within manufacturing environments supporting electromechanical systems, power electronics, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing quality, product validation, reliability improvement, and structured problem-solving across the product lifecycle of complex electromechanical assemblies.
  • Proven ability to analyze manufacturing performance and key quality indicators such as First Pass Yield, defect rates, rework, and scrap to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives that improve manufacturing stability and product conformance.

Technical Expertise
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems aligned with international standards, including implementation and management of Corrective and Preventive Action processes and structured continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing quality and problem-solving methodologies including Eight Disciplines Problem Solving, A3 Problem Solving Methodology, Root Cause Analysis, and Human Error Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve manufacturing performance, including monitoring manufacturing process capability, First Pass Yield, defect rates, and other key quality indicators.
  • Technical understanding of product validation and verification processes, reliability engineering, failure analysis, and the development and implementation of control plans and process quality controls.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations through process improvement initiatives and compliance with manufacturing process audit frameworks including the Process Audit Standard VDA 6.3.

Benefits:
  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental and vision insurance
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health insurance
