Description of Program
The Pathways for Access to Careers and Employment (PACE) program is a new career services initiative funded by NYC's Human Resources Administration working with adults and youth, ages 18+, receiving public assistance. PACE is designed to improve employment and training outcomes and provides individualized career planning, skills development, credential attainment, employment preparation, job placement and retention services.
General Description of Position
The Career Navigator supports jobseekers by assessing their skills, preparing individualized employment plans, coordinating participants' core assignments and alternative engagement activities and guiding them toward suitable job or training opportunities. This is a performance-based position responsible for managing an active caseload, maintaining accurate documentation, and meeting monthly program and placement benchmarks. This is a full-time, in-person 3 month temporary position with possibility for extension.
Key Responsibilities
  • Daily completion of multiple individualized employment plans
  • Completion of daily and weekly reports, capturing completed employment plans
  • Efficiently assess caseload to determine job readiness, employability, and best career path
  • Refer participants to core assignments, community service and alternative engagement opportunities.
  • Identify current job openings that match candidates’ skills and interests.
  • Review resumes and assess candidates’ eligibility for specific job openings.
  • Conduct workshops to help build candidates’ skills and improve their chances of employment.
  • Follow up with candidates to obtain placement information and provide retention support
  • Input data into the database with speed and accuracy
  • Daily completion of multiple individualized employment plans
  • Completion of daily and weekly reports, capturing completed employment plans complete.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required. College degree preferred in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in social services, human resources, teaching or counseling
  • Ability to assess individual skills with precision and make appropriate referrals
  • Ability to problem solve and work with a diverse customer base
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize
  • Proven ability to exhibit high professionalism, especially under stressful situations
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office products with excellent technical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with people.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and confidential data.
  • Results-oriented and motivated to take on additional responsibilities
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Kreyol, Russian or Mandarin a plus
Pay Range: $23.08/hr - $24.08/hr
