Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing medical claims, following up on unpaid and denied claims, posting payments, and ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement from insurance carriers and patients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review, correct, and submit medical claims to insurance payers.
  • Follow up on unpaid, denied, and rejected claims to maximize reimbursement.
  • Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and government payers regarding billing inquiries.
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately to patient accounts.
  • Calculate and post contractual adjustments, write-offs, credits, and debits.
  • Maintain accurate patient account records and billing documentation.
  • Meet established productivity and quality standards.
  • Perform other billing-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous healthcare medical billing experience required.
  • Knowledge of medical claims processing, payment posting, collections, and insurance follow-up.
  • Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and other third-party payers preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient with computer systems and data entry.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification is preferred but not required.
