Position Summary

Provides senior executive leadership, strategic direction, financial management, and operational oversight for Regional Pathology Services ( RPS ), the laboratory outreach enterprise of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. Reporting to the Administrator of the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology, this leadership role is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, expanding market share, strengthening client relationships, developing innovative laboratory solutions, and ensuring operational excellence. Collaborates with the departmental leadership to develop, interpret, and apply departmental policies, budgets, and long-range plans while maintaining regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and exceptional customer service.

  • Must hold a valid Nebraska driving license and be able to travel to client, partner, and institutional sites as required throughout the Midwest region and to national conferences.

Preferred Experience

Ten or more years of progressive experience, including at least five years in a senior leadership role. Direct experience in a reference laboratory, commercial laboratory, or health-system laboratory outreach enterprise is highly valued, particularly when it includes full or substantial profit-and-loss responsibility, business development, sales leadership, client contracting, revenue-cycle oversight, informatics, and regional or multi-state growth.

  • Lean, Six Sigma, project-management, process-improvement, or formal change-management experience or certification.
  • Experience in an academic health system or another complex matrixed organization requiring alignment across clinical, academic, operational, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating or executing strategic partnerships, affiliations, joint ventures, acquisitions, or major capital and technology investments.
