OVERVIEW:ย
The Construction Lead supports regional construction execution by providing senior field support to deployed Construction Managers-as-Agent, or CMas, active project teams, and the Ownerโs Representative Manager, or ORM. This role is focused on project-level execution. The Construction Lead helps CMas work through field issues, supports contractor coordination, follows up on open actions, and provides flexible site coverage ranging from short-term gaps to full project-phase deployments when project needs or staffing gaps require additional support.
The Construction Lead works under the direction of the ORM and serves as a practical execution resource across assigned projects and services. This role requires a seasoned construction professional with strong field judgment, clear communication, and the ability to help keep work moving without creating another chain of command.
WHO WE ARE:
At SILTT, we support complex telecommunications and critical infrastructure programs across global markets. From modular data center facilities to operational sustainment and disaster recovery, our teams work at the intersection of engineering, construction, and long-term performance.ย We work alongside our clients to help plan, build, and transition infrastructure with discipline, accountability, and a focus on results.
WHY SILTT?
At SILTT, being objective-driven starts with being people-driven. Strong execution begins with strong teams.ย As a growing business, we are committed to competitive benefits, professional development opportunities, and a balanced work environment that supports long-term success for our clients and our people.
A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Construction Lead may assist with contractor coordination, site readiness, schedule impacts, quality concerns, safety concerns, unclear direction, customer requests, or other project-level issues affecting delivery.ย When needed, the Construction Lead may provide site or project coverage during CMa vacancies, transitions, short-term absences, R&R coverage, mobilization needs, or periods of increased project activity. In some cases, this may include extended field deployment or serving as the on-site/mobilized project CM or Lead CM for an assigned project.
The role requires someone who can understand what is happening in the field, communicate clearly, keep issues organized, and support the ORMโs execution priorities without creating another chain of command.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regional Execution Support: Support construction execution across assigned projects by assisting with project-level issues, coordination needs, and follow-through under the direction of the ORM.
- CMa Support: Serve as a senior field resource for deployed CMas when issues require added experience, practical construction judgment, or help moving actions toward resolution.
- Project Coverage: Provide site or project coverage when required due to CMa vacancies, transitions, short-term absences, R&R coverage, increased site activity, mobilization needs, or other project coverage gaps. Support may range from short-term coverage to extended field deployment, including serving as the on-site or mobilized project CM, Lead CM, or similar project-level construction resource as directed.
- Issue Follow-Up: Help clarify field issues, identify next steps, track ownership, and support resolution of open project actions.
- Escalation Support: Support CMas and the ORM by helping organize facts, impacts, options, and recommended next steps when issues need to be escalated.
- Contractor Coordination Support: Assist with contractor coordination issues, missed commitments, staffing concerns, recovery needs, and other project-level performance concerns.
- Site Readiness Support: Assist with site readiness, access, mobilization, field constraints, project information gaps, and other conditions affecting construction execution.
- Schedule & Milestone Awareness: Maintain awareness of project schedules, lookahead activities, milestone risks, and near-term delivery impacts.
- Quality & Safety Awareness: Support field awareness of quality expectations, safety concerns, punch items, system readiness, and work conditions that may affect delivery.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with CMas, contractors, customer project teams, internal SILTT resources, and the ORM.
- Documentation & Tracking: Support clear tracking of open issues, action items, project notes, decisions, risks, coverage needs, and follow-up commitments.
- ORM-Directed Support: Support additional execution priorities assigned by the ORM to help keep regional projects and services moving.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience must include direct, hands-on involvement in active construction execution, including regular site engagement, contractor coordination, schedule impacts, field constraints, quality expectations, safety awareness, documentation, and issue resolution.
- Experience supporting substantial or technically complex construction projects, such as telecom, data center, mission-critical, industrial, utility, civil, electrical, mechanical, or complex commercial construction.
- Experience working directly with contractors, construction managers, ownerโs representatives, project managers, customer stakeholders, and field teams.
- Ability to support multiple active projects, assist deployed CMas, identify project-level risks, and escalate issues when additional support or authority is required.
- Ability to provide flexible project or site coverage, including short-term vacancy transitions and extended on-site mobilization when needed due to staffing gaps, CMa transitions, short-term absences, R&R coverage, or increased project activity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, follow through, and maintain accountability in a fast-moving construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive construction field leadership experience on substantial construction projects.
- Direct experience supporting data center, mission-critical, telecom infrastructure, critical facility, or other technically complex construction environments.
- Prior experience as a Construction Manager, Superintendent, Ownerโs Representative, Field Operations Lead, Site Lead, Area Manager, or similar senior field-based construction role.
- Experience with building commissioning, system readiness, turnover, punch list resolution, and final acceptance support.
- Strong working knowledge of integrated building systems, including controls, alarms, monitoring systems, building management systems, and coordination across mechanical, electrical, and communications systems.
- Experience with chiller plants, HVAC systems, mechanical systems, primary and secondary power distribution, and backup or emergency generation.
- Demonstrated experience holding contractors accountable for schedule, staffing, quality, safety, coordination, documentation, and recovery commitments.
- Experience stepping into challenging project conditions, helping stabilize execution, and driving practical follow-through.
- Experience supporting international construction, deployed facilities, remote site delivery, or extended overseas assignments.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong field judgment with the ability to understand construction conditions, ask the right questions, and make practical recommendations.
- Clear communication with field teams, customer stakeholders, contractors, and internal leadership.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to track open issues, action items, risks, commitments, and follow-up items across multiple projects.
- Sound escalation judgment, including knowing when an issue can be resolved at the project level and when it needs additional leadership support.
- Working proficiency with construction project management and document control platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems.
- Ability to review and work with construction drawings, schedules, RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, site reports, photos, punch lists, project trackers, and shared project files.
- Comfortable balancing field work with the administrative and digital requirements needed to support regional construction delivery.
Travel & Deployment Expectations: While this role is based out of a home office, it requires high travel flexibility driven by project lifecycles. Candidates must be prepared for:
- Periodic travel to SILTT headquarters in Virginia.
- Frequent field travel for site visits and short-term coverage transitions.
- Extended on-site mobilization, serving as the active, full-time Construction Manager for the duration of a project phase when required.
