Job description

SUMMARY:  Food planning, storing, preparing, serving and cleaning-up of all food in a safe and healthful manner. The diet shall be of the quality and quantity necessary to meet the needs of the residents and the daily Recommended Dietary Allowances.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.
Duties:

  • In a culturally competent manner, will provide services to all residents without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, age, sex, religion, and handicap or payment status.
  • Follow a weekly menu, making adjustments as needed. 
  • Prepare and serve three nutritious meals and three snacks per day. 
  • Implement principles of good nutrition, food preparation, food storage, food service and menu planning as defined by Title 22, ServeSafe and other applicable regulations.
  • Provide physician prescribed diets, monitor residents’ consumption habits.
  • Provide tray service in case of temporary need for a resident.
  • Follow food service sanitation practices and personal hygiene. 
  • Ensure kitchen equipment cleanliness, up-keep and regular maintenance.
  • Follow and perform the Cook Duties Checklist.
  • Teach interested residents basic cooking skills.
  • Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follows established safety procedures and uses appropriate safeguards in all on-the-job activities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Mandated to report any suspected abuse of dependent adults and elders directly to Law Enforcement, Adult Protective Services, Ombudsman, and Community Care Licensing

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to talk, hear, and sit, stand for extended periods of time.    
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, lift up to 25 pounds, cook and clean, and occasionally required to kneel, crouch or crawl.   
  • Be physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks per Title 22 and other applicable regulation. 

Qualification Requirements:
High School diploma or GED; or experience may be required.

Must be at least 18 years of age. 
If required to drive, must be 21 and accepted by the Company’s vehicle insurance.
Cleared by the Department of Justice and FBI prior to commencing work.
TB clearance within the last 6 months and yearly thereafter. Pass a health screening.
May be required to serve on company committees.
Complete all annual training requirements as mandated by Community Care Licensing Division, Title 22 and Front St. policy.
Attend mandated meetings and trainings; fulfill all coursework and training hours required. 
Work in a safe and acceptable manner, following established safety procedures.

Read, speak, write and understand English well enough to follow regulations, requirements and communications for resident care and prepare and follow menus; 
Able to effectively present information and respond to questions
