Inventory Control Specialist
San Rafael, CA (Local Candidates only please)
On-site (full-time) - Standard business hours, with occasional operational flexibility as needed
Salary: $71,000–$77,000
Summary
This role is focused on keeping inventory accurate, clean, and fully aligned between physical stock and the ERP system (NetSuite). The Inventory Control Specialist helps reduce errors, improve process consistency, and support warehouse and operations teams through cycle counts, audits, training, and system data management. This person plays a key role in making sure inventory records match reality and supporting better decision-making across Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Finance.
What you will be doing
- Run daily and scheduled cycle counts for finished goods and raw materials to ensure inventory accuracy
- Reconcile inventory differences by investigating variances, identifying root causes, and correcting system errors
- Maintain and update inventory records in NetSuite, including items, BOMs, and transaction data
- Monitor inventory movement across warehouse, 3PL, and co-manufacturing partners to catch issues early
- Conduct regular warehouse audits to ensure SOPs and inventory control standards are being followed
- Track expired, discontinued, or rejected materials and help coordinate proper disposition or write-offs
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Accounting, and Sales to resolve inventory issues
- Enforce FIFO practices through audits and reporting on aging inventory
- Support inbound/outbound accuracy by reviewing shipments and correcting errors before they leave the facility
- Assist with training warehouse staff on SOPs, process updates, and inventory best practices
- Help prepare for audits, inspections, and month-end inventory reporting
- Support ERP/WMS testing and improvements alongside system administrators
- Assist with annual physical inventory counts and reconciliation projects
What you bring
- 3–5+ years of inventory control experience in manufacturing, warehouse, retail, or supply chain environments
- Strong experience with cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and variance resolution
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred) and inventory workflows
- Strong Excel skills for reporting, analysis, and tracking inventory KPIs
- Ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and drive corrections independently
- Experience working cross-functionally with warehouse, quality, accounting, and operations teams
- Understanding of FIFO, inventory accuracy, shrinkage, and stock movement principles
- Experience supporting SOP development and process training (a plus)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Spanish bilingual a plus but not required
