Job description

Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing preventative and reactive repairs on tractors and trailers. This includes preventive maintenance tasks such as lube, filters, tire inspection, oil changes, and wheel seals. Additionally, you will work on engines, replace components such as alternators, starters, and brakes, and use tools like torches and grinders. You will also diagnose issues using a laptop connected to various systems and track your work through internal software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and reactive repairs on tractors and trailers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance including lube, filters, tire inspection, oil changes, and wheel seals.
  • Replace engine components such as alternators, starters, drive cams, brakes, springs, and differentiators.
  • Use a torch and grinder as necessary.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues using a laptop connected to systems like Vandex, J Pro, Detroit Commons, Tactical, Navistar.
  • Track maintenance work using internal Transman (TMT) software.

Essential Skills

  • ASE certification.
  • Experience in maintenance of semis, tractors, trailers, or farming equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment using a laptop with systems like Vandex, J Pro, Detroit Commons, Tactical, and Navistar.
  • 1+ years of experience in maintenance or applicable schooling.
  • Experience with clutches, brakes, wheel seals, and suspension.
  • Own tools are required.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B license.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on refrigeration units.
  • Refrigeration license.
  • ASC certification.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
