Job description

plaintext JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for insurance verification and authorization processing for transplant patients. Under the direction of the Transplant Financial Coordinator Supervisor, the Transplant Financial Coordinator (TFC) is a key member of the multidisciplinary transplant team. The TFC is responsible for ensuring transplant patients receive financial clearance by verifying insurance benefits, obtaining authorizations, counseling patients regarding insurance coverage, and providing guidance when coverage has lapsed or is insufficient. The coordinator will analyze complex insurance information, communicate financial requirements to patients and staff, resolve insurance-related issues, and support process improvements that enhance patient care. The role requires excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, along with the ability to quickly learn hospital and transplant-related systems. Key Responsibilities - Insurance verification and authorization processing for transplant patients. - Ensuring transplant patients receive financial clearance by verifying insurance benefits. - Obtaining authorizations. - Counseling patients regarding insurance coverage. - Providing guidance when coverage has lapsed or is insufficient. - Analyzing complex insurance information. - Communicating financial requirements to patients and staff. - Resolving insurance-related issues. - Supporting process improvements that enhance patient care. Required Qualifications - Professional appearance with excellent communication skills. - Hospital or clinical healthcare experience. - Working knowledge of medical insurance verification and authorization processes. - Strong computer and data entry skills. - Transplant financial experience; with Kidney Transplant experience highly preferred. - Experience in the medical field, including transplant and transplant finance, is preferred. - High School Diploma or equivalent required. - An Associate's Degree may be substituted with two (2) years of financial experience, with at least one (1) year of transplant financial experience. Preferred Qualifications - Associate's Degree in a related field preferred. - Bilingual fluency is strongly preferred. Certifications - Proof of immunity or series of 2 shots for MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella). - Proof of immunity or series of 2 shots for Varicella (Chickenpox). - Proof of immunity or series of 3 shots for Hepatitis B; worker can decline with a declination form on file. - Annual TB Test required; results must be read within 24 to 48 hours. - Positive TB history requires chest x-ray results. - 10-panel drug test including: Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine metabolite, Opiates (Codeine, Morphine), Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone, Oxycodone, Phencyclidine, Methadone, Propoxyphene. - Influenza Vaccination required for the current flu season (11/1 through 5/30). - Workers starting after May 1st should wait until after September 1st for the next flu shot season. - Fully vaccinated with Covid-2024-25 Vaccine.
