Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

  1. Provide primary support, supervision, and evaluation for specified abbeywest student ministry coordinators (Beloved - Women’s Ministry, Battalion – Men’s Ministry, ABS - Athlete Ministry, and others as appropriate).
  2. Assist in the provision of fall training as well as in-service trainings throughout the academic year of all abbeywest student ministry coordinators.
  3. Cultivate a thriving life group discipleship ministry which will include regular community gatherings and a consistent active small group ministry.
  4. Facilitate the launch and growth of the Common Ground Program (our program for introducing and integrating students into small groups and the faith community).
  5. Assist in furthering the general development of the Common Ground discipleship program with specific focus on
    • the administrative needs and mechanisms for managing groups
    • training and support needed for facilitators
    • detailed development of the additional experiences.
  6. Respond to needs, questions and comments of facilitators as able (forwarding additional items to Lead Pastor).
  7. Cultivate evaluation of systems, infrastructure and training.
  8. Oversee and administer recruitment, training and support for group facilitators (faculty, staff and students).
  9. Curate and communicate current lists of small groups.
  10. Help participants find and join a small group in a timely manner.
  11. Track ministry objectives and appropriate, measurable discipleship growth.
  12. Provide good stewardship of small group discipleship budget to ensure fiscal responsibility, impactful use and clear reporting.

        Care and Support:

        1. Oversee Student Spiritual Care Coordinator and direct peer/student Spiritual Care strategies
        2. Help cultivate an impactful ministry of prayer and care which will develop and utilize prayer teams, administer opportunities for submission and follow up of community prayer needs, and establish ministerial connection points of spiritual care.
        3. Filter situations needing pastoral care and counseling to the Lead Pastor.

        Additional Duties (Determined in conversation with Lead Pastor by giftedness and need. Duties could include different areas instead, directed in an effort to help share the ministerial load of abbeywest.)
