The Underground Pump Mechanic will be responsible for the safe definition, execution, and completion of underground dewatering equipment such as fixed/temporary pumps, sump maintenance, maintaining water levels, ditches, etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair of pumps systems and dewater piping.
- Providing and maintaining personal hand tools for functionality and cleanliness
- Perform workplace inspections and maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all work areas to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, contractors, and vendors.
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts
- Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of Pumps & systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair breakdowns quickly and efficiently
- Able to complete daily tasks and provide reports
- Establishing work relationships necessary to efficiently execute the daily maintenance activities through his/her assigned zone
- Take ownership in and accountability to working safely as an advocate and leader of a safe work culture for all employees with a specific focus on lockout procedures and avoiding hand related injuries, maintaining safe work practices, a respectful workplace, and the safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Operation of underground support equipment such as, forklifts, manlifts and other equipment as needed.

Experience and Training:- Knowledge of Geho/ Gardner Denvers preferred
- Tools required to work on/ rebuilds of pumps.
- Ability to troubleshoot and complete repair on fixed equipment required.
- Basic fabrication skills including welding and cutting, brazing, arc welding and air arc required.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatics and the ability to apply those skills to troubleshoot and repair systems preferred.
- Exposure to or experience in the mining industry is preferred but not required.
- Inspect equipment, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in an underground mining environment is required.
- Perform and document work area inspections and equipment inspection / operation cards.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate with the ability to communicate with others be it verbal, written, handheld radios, mine radios, cap lamp signals or any other type of communication necessary for the safe completion of the task.
- Ability to function within a team environment, and work closely with peers at all levels with a professional attitude is required.
- Ability to communicate well with team members, asking necessary questions to ensure instructions are clear to all. Keep an open mind to ideas from other team members.
Work Environment:The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in extreme cold/hot conditions, occasionally exposed fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, appropriate hearing protection may be needed and required.
Health and Safety:Expected to always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while in a production environment (hard hat, safety belt, self-rescue respiratory device, steel toed boots/metatarsal protection, reflective visible clothing) or as required for a specific job duty.
