Job description

Key Accountabilities 

  • Assess and sign-off employees according to the training plan 

  • Conduct new hire training classes and Annual Refresher Training as needed 

  • Deliver site specific training at all sites at Crucible ETN

  • Assist the Training Supervisor in developing and implementing new training policies and procedures  

  • Work with the Training Officers to align underground and simulator training 

  • Assist in achieving the training plan through effectively and efficiently ensuring training of mining personnel in relation to the equipment and knowledge required; modifying and improving the training as required by production needs 

  • Assist with performance management of trainees and production teams by notifying relevant supervisors when coaching of substandard performance occurs 

  • Ensure performance of trainees is reported to supervision in a timely manner to ensure correct development decisions are made 

  • Provides technical safety and health support and information to mining, maintenance and operations 

  • Identify company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs in conjunction with the Training Supervisor 

  • Continuously improve the skills/knowledge of mining personnel to optimize ore extraction to specification 

  • High-level of responsiveness into assisting miners to quickly resolve operational training or method problems 

  • Provide follow up evaluations on newly signed off operators to ensure that operation is being done properly 

  • Assists as necessary in the implementation of a risk management program and preparation of reports 

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal blasting regulations and standards.  

  • Any other duties as necessary. 

Qualifications / Requirements 

  • 5+ years mining experience in all aspects of underground ore extraction  

  • Knowledge of MSHA and other relevant Government Regulations regarding safety and health management 

  • Current MSHA Mine Rescue Training Certification and MSHA Part 48 Training Certification preferred
