Mine Hoist Specialist

The Mine Hoist Specialist plays a vital role within the team, acting as a key liaison between the engineering design office and on-site construction teams. Specializing in the installation of mine hoists and equipment for shaft sinking, the specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth integration and application of the company's proprietary systems. Responsibilities encompass oversight of installations, conducting maintenance, and troubleshooting, all while prioritizing design integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance. In addition to these hands-on tasks, the specialist also contributes strategically to project design, estimates, and procurement, fostering a culture of operational excellence.

1. Technical Support and Services in Shaft Sinking: a. Provide specialized technical support and services in the installation of hoists, facilities, and systems, with a focus on the unique requirements of shaft sinking within the mining industry. b. Ensure adherence to stringent corporate standards and industry-specific guidelines in all installation and maintenance activities.

2. Quality Assurance and Auditing for Shaft Sinking: a. Develop and implement robust quality assurance programs tailored to the nuances of shaft sinking projects, incorporating corporate standards for excellence. b. Conduct thorough plant audits, placing a strong emphasis on compliance with internal business practices, trade secrets, and intellectual property protection.

3. Work Measurement and Data Analysis in Shaft Sinking: a. Conduct precise work measurement activities, such as rope testing and specialized studies, to optimize processes specific to shaft sinking. b. Collect and analyze operational data, contributing to the development of estimates, schedules, specifications, and reports while safeguarding sensitive information related to corporate standards and trade secrets.

4. Installation and Commissioning Procedures for Shaft Sinking: a. Develop meticulous installation and commissioning procedures tailored to the unique variables of shaft sinking, incorporating controls that align with corporate standards. b. Oversee installations, ensuring strict adherence to established processes that protect intellectual property and trade secrets.

5. Electrical and Electronic Components in Shaft Sinking: a. Contribute to the design, development, and testing of electrical and electronic components, equipment, and drive systems specifically tailored for shaft sinking applications, while safeguarding proprietary knowledge.

6. Enforcement of Corporate Standards: a. Enforce the company's corporate standards rigorously, ensuring that inspections and maintenance activities maintain the highest level of quality and adhere to proprietary guidelines and trade secrets.

7. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

8. Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.

9. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.

10. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.

11. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.

12. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

13. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.

14. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist other job functions as required.

Education: High School or equivalent.

Work Experience: 1. 10 + years' experience in the installation and commissioning of hoisting plants

Knowledge Required: 1. Superior knowledge of hoisting plant processes 2. Familiarity with Redpath Safety Program and corporate guidelines 3. Working knowledge of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, HVAC, and hoist safety circuits 4. Able to work with and promote health and safety in the workplace environment. 5. Must be able to demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials. 6. Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment. 7. Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work). 8. Knowledge and understanding of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.

Other Requirements: 1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical. 2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. 3. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence. 4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. 5. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. 6. High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy. 7. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
