Job Title: Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanic

Job Description

The Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanic installs duct work, coordinates with foreman on daily plans. This role coordinates daily jobsite activities, ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, and in line with high-quality installation standards, while serving as a key communication point between field teams and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints and project plans to ensure accurate layout, field measuring, and installation of ductwork and sheet metal components.
  • Coordinate daily work activities and jobsite schedules so crews, materials, and equipment are organized and ready to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, adheres to OSHA and company safety policies, and meets established quality standards for commercial HVAC and ductwork installation.
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to align work plans, resolve conflicts, and keep projects on track.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members by demonstrating best practices in sheet metal fabrication, ductwork installation, and safety procedures.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues on site, diagnose problems with layouts or HVAC systems, and implement effective solutions to maintain progress.
  • Monitor crew productivity and overall project progress, adjusting resources and workflows as needed to meet schedule and performance goals.
  • Manage materials, tools, and equipment on site, ensuring proper use, inventory control, and readiness for upcoming tasks.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control by inspecting completed work and verifying that installations comply with project specifications and industry standards.

Essential Skills

  • Proven crew leadership experience in a commercial sheet metal or HVAC construction environment.
  • Hands-on expertise in commercial HVAC and ductwork installation, including layout, field measuring, and ductwork fabrication.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills with the ability to interpret detailed project plans and translate them into accurate installations.
  • Demonstrated ability in project coordination, including scheduling, resource allocation, and jobsite workflow management.

Pay and Benefits

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
