Job description

Labor Solutions Professional is seeking a Fabrication Machine Operator (FMO) to join our team. This role primarily operates the Mazak laser machine and supports other equipment including 100-to-250-ton press brakes, saws, and ring rollers to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, and fabricated components. The FMO follows specific work assignments under supervision, practicing and adhering to the department’s 6S and ISO standards.

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Pay: Starting at $26/hour + premium

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review job/production orders, interpret prints and drawings, and ensure accuracy of information.
  • Select and verify materials, processes, and equipment for assigned jobs.
  • Adjust and operate fabricating machines according to required setups.
  • Prepare and clean product surfaces as needed for operations.
  • Monitor machine performance and output during production.
  • Package finished products according to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and equipment.
  • Follow all safety and environmental policies.
  • Adhere to ISO and quality standards in all work.

Physical Demands:

  • Maximum lifting: 100 lbs. (infrequently), 50 lbs. (frequently)
  • Maximum moving: 200 lbs. (with assistance)
  • Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting; occasional climbing or sitting
  • Vision: close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception required

Work Environment:

  • Metal fabrication/welding/assembly shop
  • Exposure to hot objects, sparks, flying metal, fumes, chemicals, noise ≥85dBA
  • Required PPE: safety glasses, respirators, uniforms, facemasks, ANSI safety shoes; gloves, ear protection, or outerwear as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of specific fabricating machine experience
  • Basic knowledge of metal fabrication; press brake, turret, and saw experience desirable
  • Ability to perform basic math computations related to metal fabrication
  • Knowledge of structural metals and fabrication tools desirable
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and communicate effectively with others
  • Formal apprenticeship training is a plus but not required
