Job description

Position: Adjunct Lecturer - Mathematics

Department: Mathematical and Computational Sciences

Classification: Part-time, Non-benefit eligible

Rate: 1400 per contact hour (with a terminal degree) and 1200 per contact hour (without a terminal degree).  This compensation is per contact hour and is subject to change based on class size.

Brief overview ofduties: Benedictine University is seekingexperienced and academically qualified adjunct instructors to teach 1-3introductory level mathematics lecture courses in Lisle, IL each semester.Common course offerings include College Algebra, College Trigonometry,Mathematics for Everyday Life, Mathematics for Elementary Teachers, andBusiness Calculus, with Calculus Statistics, and Discrete Mathematics offeredon an as-needed basis.

Most course offerings are in-person at our Lisle, IL campus, though occasional teaching opportunities may be available online. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach in-person at our Lisle, IL campus.

Essential jobresponsibilities:

1. Instruct students in assigned mathematics courses, including designing and delivering lecture materials, homework assignments, and in-class work.
2. Answer e-mails and meet with students as needed for help.
3. Evaluate student work in a timely fashion.
4. Communicate regularly with Department Chair and course coordinator as needed.
