Job description

Controls Systems Engineer / LOTO LeadPosition Overview

We're seeking an experienced Controls Systems Engineer / LOTO Lead to support commissioning and startup activities within a large-scale, high-tech manufacturing environment. This individual will serve as the site’s primary LOTO and Electrical Safety Lead while providing hands-on support for controls systems, PLC programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and automation integration.

This role supports multiple manufacturing buildings and works closely with engineers, technicians, contractors, and commissioning teams to ensure safe, efficient startup and operation of automated systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities across multiple facilities and project teams.
  • Perform zero-energy verification and electrical isolation validation prior to commissioning activities.
  • Review and approve LOTO procedures, safety plans, and energy isolation processes.
  • Conduct electrical safety inspections and ensure compliance with NFPA 70E and site safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary electrical safety resource during startup and commissioning operations.
  • Modify, troubleshoot, and support Siemens PLC programs and automation systems.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and integration of manufacturing equipment and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot controls hardware, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
  • Assist with HMI and SCADA modifications using AVEVA / Wonderware platforms.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve system performance and reliability.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of industrial controls, automation, or commissioning experience.
  • Experience leading Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs in industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of zero-energy verification and electrical safety procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens PLC platforms and PLC programming.
  • Experience commissioning industrial equipment, control panels, and automation systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical and controls systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in semiconductor, data center, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with AVEVA / Wonderware SCADA systems.
  • Experience supporting multiple concurrent commissioning projects.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and industrial electrical safety standards.
  • Previous experience as a LOTO Coordinator, LOTO Manager, or Electrical Safety Lead.
  • Experience supporting large-scale facility startups and system integration efforts.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
