Summary
Performs the nursing process through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe therapeutic care to patients including patients undergoing obstetric operative or other invasive procedures. Scrubs, circulates and recovers for cesarean sections as needed.

Education and Experience
Associate's Degree from college or vocational school from a National League of Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or equivalent accredited school of nursing. The nurse shall have completed a nursing education program that included clinical experiences with actual patients under the supervision of qualified faculty.ย

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

BLS/ACLS: employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support (ALS). Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS and ACLS certification).ย 
  • Within 6 months of employment

Other Experience, Qualifications
Required:ย 
  • One to two years in labor and delivery unit with adequate number of deliveries to ensure competence in all areas of labor, delivery, postpartum, and new born care.ย 
  • Must complete Baby Friendly coursework (Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding) within 6 months of hire.
  • Must complete Relias Fetal monitoring within 3 months of hire.
  • Additional Coursework: GE Health Systems, AWHONN Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring.
  • If hired without L&D experience, must complete and pass a L&D class approved by the Association of American Womenโ€™s Health, Obstetric & Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 3 months of hire date.
    • Temporary or seasonal staff may be hired with only postpartum experience per management discretion.
Preferred:
  • Familiar with fetal monitoring high-risk labor/delivery, neonatal and postpartum management.
