Hand Bindery Supervisor
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000+ annually
We are currently recruiting for a skilled Hand Bindery Supervisor to join a fast-paced print manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the manual finishing and hand bindery processes within production. The Hand Bindery Supervisor will help ensure production efficiency, maintain high-quality standards, support departmental growth, and lead a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise daily operations of the hand bindery department, ensuring production schedules and deadlines are met while exceeding quality expectations and budgetary goals.
• Assist with scheduling hand bindery projects as needed to support maximum efficiency.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to department leads and production staff.
• Manage a workforce that may include temporary employees.
• Conduct interviews, provide counseling, and complete performance reviews as needed.
• Order consumable materials for the department, including shrink film, strapping material, tape, and related supplies.
• Monitor incoming jobs and plan or request temporary labor as needed based on production demands.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance of departmental equipment.
• Ensure all equipment remains in safe working order at all times.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards and ensure they are followed consistently.
• Conduct regular employee trainings, including safety and technical training.
• Review and update departmental Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
• Provide regular reports to plant management on key performance indicators.
• Set up and operate all equipment within the department as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Associate degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Printing, bindery, finishing, or packaging experience preferred.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a production environment preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, and support employees.
• Prompt and regular attendance required.
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk regularly throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
