TEMPORARY, PART-TIME LABORER/CAR WASHER - BISBEE
UNCLASSIFIED: Temporary positions are not subject to the provisions of the Merit System Rules pursuant to Arizona Law.
OPENS: Friday, August 14, 2026
CLOSES: Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt and may close at anytime.
RATE OF PAY: $15.15 hourly
HOURS: Up to 19.5 hours per week. Not benefits eligible.
PLEASE NOTE: All positions at Cochise County require a post offer, pre-employment background screening.
NATURE OF WORK: Under direct supervision, performs tasks requiring unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor involving repair and maintenance tasks to fulfill departmental needs; performs other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.
TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Performs a wide range of tasks requiring manual labor which may include ground maintenance, custodial, building maintenance, highway maintenance, solid waste operations, fleet maintenance or other designated areas as assigned. This may include the operation of power, mechanical and hand tools or equipment depending on assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
Six months of experience performing manual labor in a construction, grounds maintenance or public works environment; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Some knowledge of:
- the methods, practices, tools and materials used in a variety of trades;
- the operation of a variety of equipment used in various unskilled or semi-skilled manual labor.
Working knowledge of:
- occupational hazards and required preventative and safety measures.
Ability to:
- perform manual labor;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public;
- read, write and speak English;
- follow written and verbal instruction and communicate effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under direct supervision in a variety of climatic conditions and may include exposure to mechanical and chemical hazards.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, large motor skills, ability to communicate.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; involves sitting, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are important.
