Introduction Are you passionate about helping young people and making a real impact on your community. The Prince William County Office of Youth Services is seeking to hire a highly motivated individual for a Relief Food Services Cook position at the Molinari Juvenile Shelter in Manassas, Virginia. The Molinari Juvenile Shelter (MJS) is a short-term residential detention alternative for boys and girls ages 10 to 17 who are in crisis and need temporary placement.

ABOUT THIS ROLE: Relief Food Services Cooks are temporary staff members who provide critical coverage on an ad hoc, as-needed basis. In this role, you will be responsible for the following: Preparing and cooking food for large groups of people according to specified menus and/or for individuals requiring special diets Distributing appropriate portions of food onto serving plates or into individual containers and loading food on carts for delivery Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and kitchen and dining areas Maintaining the inventory of food, cleaning supplies, and equipment Monitoring the use and cost of kitchen resources Procuring food and equipment for the kitchen If you are looking for a rewarding position that can truly make a difference in an at-risk youth's life, apply now. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Ideally, we seek an individual who has experience cooking with commercial kitchen tools and equipment for large groups of people.

You will need the ability to be flexible, to work independently, and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures. Bilingual (English/Spanish) speakers are encouraged to apply. MINIMUM EDUCATION, REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience working with commercial kitchen tools and equipment Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing practices Extensive knowledge of health department regulations related to food handling practices Ability to conduct kitchen inventory ServSafe CertificationSCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Shifts generally include an 8-hour workday. Shift assignments may include day, evening, weekend, or holiday work. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must pass a DMV record check. Must pass an FBI Criminal History record check. Must pass a Child Protective Services record check.
