About the Job
Seasonal Work. Start Date: June 8, 2026. End Date: August 21, 2026
YMCA Camp Letts is an outdoor camp facility for children located in Edgewater, MD that specializes in outdoor activities such as boating, high ropes, and swimming. The health center staff oversees all aspects of health and safety in camp, most predominantly the care for hurt or sick campers. Serves as a point of contact for parent communication (check in/out, phone calls, etc.). Escalate any concerns to the Camp Director. Assist with all camper issues (behavior, homesickness, etc.). Be involved in the program organization for all camp and crew activities. Stay alert to potential health or safety concerns to campers. Attends all staff trainings, meetings, and participates in all camp events and activities. Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
• Certified as a Registered Nurse, EMT, or Paramedic in the state of Maryland• At least 18 years of age• CPR/AED/First Aid Certified• Background in emergency management
Responsibilities:
Administer medications and health checks
Communicates with parents, counselors, and directors of any health concerns
Reports and records all health concerns to parents
Serve as on duty health center staff member on a rotational basis
Observe the health and well-being of campers and staff throughout their stay at camp.
Provide medical treatment as needed for all persons in accordance with the medical standing orders and health center procedures as provided.
Maintain a clean, comfortable, and well-supplied health care facility, including first aid kits throughout camp.
Maintain health forms, health logs, medication administration records, and accident/incident reports in a confidential and timely manner.
Provide health care coverage and act in on call manner to be available for emergencies, illnesses, inpatient care, sick calls, and transport of a patient to an off-site health care facility.
Collect and receive all medications and maintain proper storage throughout the week.
Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy.
Manage and supervise the health center staff.
Supervise the health screenings of all campers during check in.
Maintain a consistent presence at camp and communicate whereabouts when not in the health center.
Play a critical role in any health emergencies.
May support the camp leadership in planning and leading camp activities
Attends all staff trainings, meetings, and participates in all camp events and activities
Other duties as needed
