About this job

We are looking for a temporary Senior QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of web applications. In this role, you will own quality strategy across the development lifecycle, build and maintain scalable test automation, and partner closely with Delivery, Creative, Engineering to deliver high-quality user experiences. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who is passionate about quality engineering, not just testing-someone who can balance speed and rigor in an Agile environment and elevate quality standards across the team.

What you'll do

Quality Strategy & Execution

Own and evolve the quality strategy for web applications, including functional, regression, exploratory, and release testing

Translate product requirements, user stories, and designs into clear test plans and test scenarios

Drive a shift-left testing mindset by participating in requirements and design reviews

Perform risk-based testing to ensure critical user flows are thoroughly validated

Test Automation

Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks for web applications

Write reliable, maintainable automated tests using modern tools such as Selenium

Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery

Identify and reduce flaky tests, improve execution speed, and increase coverage

Manual & Exploratory Testing

Lead exploratory testing efforts for new features and complex workflows

Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing (desktop and mobile)

Validate UX and edge cases that are difficult to automate

API & Backend Testing

Test RESTful APIs using tools like Postman or automation frameworks

Validate data integrity and service integrations

Collaboration & Leadership

Partner closely with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and Engineers

Act as a quality advocate while maintaining a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach

Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to team best practices

Provide clear, actionable defect reports and root-cause analysis

Who you are

6+ years of experience in QA or Quality Engineering, with a strong focus on web applications

Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks

Strong proficiency in at least one programming language used for automation: JavaScript / TypeScript, Python, or Java

Hands-on experience with: 

Modern web automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)

Version control systems (Git)

Solid understanding of:

Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

REST APIs, HTTP methods, and status codes

Testing tools and methods (Selenium Webdriver and Testrail)

Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Expertise in planning and estimating QA activities required for the project within an Agile team environment.

Ability to manage QA resources on planned activities (such as test case development, test execution, defects reporting etc.).

Proficiency in analyzing and identifying gaps in project documentation, identifying testable/not testable areas.

Proficiency in generating test development/execution progress reports and test result reports.

Great if you also have

Experience with Adobe Experience Manager

Working knowledge of web accessibility and accessibility testing tools.

Knowledge of and/or experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar)

Experience in automobile, tire, and auto parts markets.

For Chicago, the estimated hourly range for this position is between $58.00and $69.00. For New York, the estimated hourly range for this position is between $65.00and $77.00. The range for this position in other geographies may vary based on market differences.The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
