Job description

The National Electrical Benefit Fund ("NEBF") is a multiemployer, defined benefit pension plan that provides retirement benefits and disability benefits to eligible employees in the electrical industry. NEBF was established in 1946 as a result of the Employees Benefit Agreement between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers ("IBEW") and the National Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. ("NECA"). NEBF is financed entirely by employer contributions and investment income. NEBF has approximately 693,000 participants.
The National Electrical Annuity Plan ("NEAP) is a multiemployer defined contribution annuity plan that provides retirement and disability benefits to employees in the electrical industry. NEAP was established in 1973 as a result of collective bargaining agreements between IBEW and NECA. Participants are assigned an individual account and a participant's account balance is the total amount of employer contributions received and investment performance. NEAP has approximately 182,000 participants.
NEBF and NEAP (the "Plans") are operated by the same administrative and investment offices. This position is a shared resource between the two Plans. NEBF Investments is responsible for management of the Plans' assets.
The investment office and this position is located in Washington, DC. This is a hybrid position and requires working 3 days per week on-site.
SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Investment Analyst will report directly to the Director of Investment Operations. The position is multi-faceted and provides professional growth opportunities as the analyst will have a broad range of responsibilities.
DUTIES: Principal responsibilities will include:
  • Gathering information and data from a variety of sources to develop and maintain current knowledge of investment market conditions.
  • Analysis and evaluation of investment opportunities across public and private market asset classes.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of investment strategies.
  • Identifying and evaluating of suitable external investment management firms ("investment managers").
  • Providing oversight of investment managers, performance analysis, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Participating in asset allocation studies.
  • Establishing and maintaining databases and preparing spreadsheets.
  • Maintaining relationships with the custodian bank and investment managers, including opening and closing of investment manager accounts, ongoing communications with investment advisors and investment managers, and participation in investment manager account reviews.
  • Monitoring the Plans' asset allocation and investment performance, preparing monthly cash flow forecasts, implementing investment rebalancing as needed, and participating in transition management.
  • Assisting in the coordination of investment transactions, including fulfilling capital calls and transfers between investment accounts as directed by the Executive Director and the Managing Director and approved by the Trustees.
  • Assisting in the preparation of quarterly reports for Trustees meetings, which includes the review of executive reports and gathering third-party meeting deliverables (investment consultant reports, legal reports, financial audits, etc.).
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the Plans' private equity tracking system, including commitments and processing capital calls, recording distributions and monitoring performance for alternative assets (private equity, infrastructure, hedge fund investments, etc.).
  • Assisting in streamlining investment operations processes and procedures.
  • Reviewing investment managers' account guidelines and ensuring compliance with regards to fees, investment policy, and manager specific guidelines.
  • Establishing and maintaining working relationships with appropriate members of the external investment community.
  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned by Plan executives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two to Five years of relevant experience, with financial analysis and investment operations preferred.
  • An undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, or engineering is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate has (or is pursuing) a CFA designation.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, creative and critical thinking skills.
  • Possesses strong organization, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects.
  • Ability to work well with others, anticipate impacts of workload/issues to team deadlines and has a positive work attitude.
  • Able to work on multiple projects concurrently, to self-direct and prioritize responsibilities, and to work independently to perform a variety of tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Products.

COMPENSATION
Salary range $86,000K - 113,000K.
This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local No. 2, AFL-CIO.
