Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Location:  On-Site in Nampa, Idaho

Job Summary:
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist provides support for the Regulatory department to maintain regulatory standards for raw materials and finished products. This role will also work cross-functionally with other department managers to ensure department projects and company goals are successful. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist ensures all products meet US and Canadian regulatory labeling requirements.

Job Duties:
  • Works with QA, Sales, R&D and Customers to finalize formulas and ensure they are in compliance with customer, regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory information of raw materials and finished goods in Sage X3.
  • Prepares product Specifications, including Allergens, Country of Origin, Range Formulas, 100g Nutrition (as well as retail nutrition labels) and Ingredient Declarations.
  • Creates finished good label templates according to specifications.
  • Supports Sales, R&D, Quality Assurance and Production with information requests and process improvement strategies.
  • Requests specialized documents and corresponds with customers as needed.
  • Completes customer questionnaires and requests.
  • Maintains nutrition database of ingredients and finished products.
  • Prepares and gathers documents for submission to obtain Kosher, Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Halal, and Gluten Free certification of products.
  • Controls all documentation for ease of recall.
  • Prepares finished good files for labeling.
  • Identify relevant guidance documents, international standards, or consensus standards and provide interpretive assistance.
  • Maintain current knowledge base of existing and emerging regulations, standards or guidance documents.
  • Interpret regulatory rules or rule changes and ensure they are communicated through corporate policy and procedure.
  • Reviews and approves documents pertaining to the Supplier and Raw Material Verification Program which includes assured status claims, allergens, labeling, country of origin and nutritional information.
  • Provides customers with retail packaging art reviews for compliance with nutrition claims, nutrition labeling, certifications, ingredient declarations, CA proposition 65, and other CFR regulations.
  • Supports audits by providing accurate up to date information for GFCP/GFCO, Kosher, BRCGS, NGMO Project Verified, Organic and Halal.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Self-starter and able to work both in teams and independently.
  • Excellent communication skills at a cross-functional level (i.e. throughout the company).
  • Proficient with computer applications; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet.

Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.
  • Knowledge of USA and Canadian food Regulation.
  • 2 years experience in the food industry
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and prioritizing abilities are required, as well as strong technical writing ability.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a facility that handles allergens including but not limited to: wheat, soy, egg, milk, celery and mustard.
  • Be able to work at a desk for extended periods of time.
