Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious Industrial Custodian to join our manufacturing team on the 1st shift. In this role, you will maintain the cleanliness, order, and safety of our injection molding production floor, warehouse spaces, and administrative offices during active operating hours. Your primary focus will be managing industrial waste (such as plastic resin pellets and oil spills) to prevent slip-and-trip hazards, ensuring a safe environment for our machinery operators and production staff.

Shift and Schedule

  • Shift: 1st Shift

  • Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Days: Monday through Friday (occasional weekend overtime may be required)

  • Status: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire

Core Responsibilities

  • Active Production Floor Safety: Sweep, mop, and brush manufacturing bays continuously, ensuring walkways are kept entirely free of stray plastic pellets, dust, and debris.

  • Spill Response & Containment: Respond quickly to oil, hydraulic fluid, or chemical leaks around injection machines using proper industrial absorbents.

  • Industrial Waste Disposal: Empty heavy-duty plant trash bins, dump plastic resin scraps, and transport bulk waste to industrial compactors.

  • Machinery Area Upkeep: Wipe down the exterior surfaces of injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment without disrupting active operations.

  • Shift Sanitation: Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, and administrative offices daily.

  • Supply & Chemical Management: Safely store, label, and mix industrial cleaning chemicals in strict accordance with OSHA and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines.

  • Dock Cleanliness: Keep shipping docks, loading ramps, and dumpster areas clear of discarded pallets, strapping, and plastic wrap.

  • Operational Flexibility: Perform additional tasks as assigned or needed by management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Experience: Reliable entry-level candidates

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for a 9-hour shift, bend, kneel, and safely lift up to 50–75 pounds.

  • Punctuality: Must have reliable transportation to consistently arrive for the 6:00 AM start time.

  • Bilingual: In English and Spanish.

Employment Status & Union Enrollment

  • Union Status: This is a collective bargaining unit position.

  • Probationary Period: Selected candidates must be willing to work through our partner temporary staffing agency for the initial 90-day probationary period. Continued placement during this time is contingent upon satisfactory performance, safety compliance, and attendance.

  • Union Transition: Upon successful completion of the 90-day probationary period, the employee will transition to permanent, direct-hire status and become an official union member.
