Job Title: Industrial Electrician
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in a cold storage facility. You will work with a range of voltages and control systems to ensure reliable operation of equipment in a demanding industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems operating at 480 V, 120vAC, and 24vDC.
- Troubleshoot and replace variable frequency drives and other drive systems to restore and optimize equipment performance.
- Diagnose and repair issues with switches, proximity sensors (proxes), and photoeyes to ensure accurate sensing and control.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to perform accurate installations and repairs.
- Perform basic work with HMIs, including replacing units and supporting troubleshooting activities.
- Install and bend conduit to route wiring safely and in compliance with industrial standards.
- Perform wiring tasks to connect, repair, or modify electrical components and control panels.
- Conduct systematic troubleshooting of electrical problems to minimize downtime and maintain safe operations.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to support production and facility uptime.
- Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with live electrical systems and in cold storage conditions.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on industrial electrical experience, ideally at an intermediate level.
- Proficiency working with 480 V, 120vAC, and 24vDC electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and replace drives in an industrial environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot switches, proximity sensors (proxes), and photoeyes.
- Basic familiarity with HMIs, including replacing units and supporting troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Experience with conduit bending and installation.
- Strong wiring skills in an industrial setting.
- Solid employment tenure demonstrating reliability and commitment.
- Willingness and ability to work day shift from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and every other Saturday as scheduled.

- Willingness to learn HMI programming with on-the-job training.
- Interest in expanding knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
- Comfort working in a cold storage environment around fish, shellfish, and other common allergens.

Work Environment
This role is based in a cold storage facility where you will work around fish, shellfish, and other common allergens. Monday through Friday, with work every other Saturday unless you volunteer for additional Saturdays. You will regularly work with industrial electrical systems, including 480 V, 120vAC, and 24vDC, as well as drives, HMIs, switches, proxes, and photoeyes. The environment requires appropriate cold storage attire and adherence to safety protocols for both electrical work and cold conditions.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
