About the Position

Election season is approaching, and we need your help building a strong team to support the 2026 election cycle. As a Temporary Recruiter, you will play a key role in recruiting and hiring election workers to ensure staffing requests are met and operations are ready for each election. This temporary position is based at 301 W. Jefferson St., Phoenix, AZ 85003, and will run through mid-November 2026.

About Us

The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County. The MCRO offers a friendly, welcoming, and collaborative environment with opportunities to grow and develop new skills.

We Require

  • Two years of experience performing office, administrative, and clerical duties in Administration, Recruitment, Human Resources, Elections, or a similar environment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for therequired experience on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work irregular hours and shifts based on departmental needs
  • Must have an Arizona state driver's license by the time of hire
  • Must be proficient in using computers and navigating Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • This position requires proficiency in professional communication skills, both verbal and in writing

  • An associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Three years of experience with administrative and clerical procedures, such as managing files and records
  • One year of experience supporting election activities

Job Contributions

  • Conducts phone interviews to recruit temporary Election workers
  • Handles incoming and outgoing communications, in telecommunication and electronic media

  • Schedules training for poll workers and election staff each election cycle
  • Supports other assigned election activities as directed during election cycles

Working Conditions

This position requires:

  • Availability for significant mandatory overtime during the Primary and General Election cycles
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced setting, to manage multiple computer screens with small text while handling incoming calls, to remain seated and perform sedentary work for extended periods of time, and to work collaboratively in a team environment while also completing tasks independently
  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment
  • Employees in this position must be able to lift items from the floor to waist level that weigh up to 25 pounds and to push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Requires travel to the Downtown Phoenix Facility (MCTEC) on Election Day and to other locations as needed
  • Telework is not available for this position
  • Must refrain from engaging in political discussions
