Job Summary

In the role of Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate residents and patients, employing various treatments to assist them in developing, maintaining, and recovering their ability to perform daily tasks. Successful Occupational Therapists within our organization are typically excellent communicators, empathetic, and enjoy engaging with individuals. This position may involve supervising assistants, aides, and students in providing care and treatment, as well as collaborating with external parties such as providers, case managers, and family members.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct evaluations and implement interventions for residents and patients.
  • Assess the capabilities of residents/patients and establish realistic therapy objectives.
  • Document resident/patient information for evaluations and create therapeutic plans.
  • Provide education aimed at enhancing understanding and improving functional outcomes.
  • Integrate knowledge of current research into daily treatment practices.
  • Offer ongoing education and training to colleagues in relevant areas of expertise.
Qualifications
  • Required educational qualifications must align with state licensure standards.
  • Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist license in the state(s) of practice.
  • For those working at a facility affiliated with our organization (preferred but not mandatory for other facilities): Certification through the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred. A valid driver's license may be required when applicable.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary department-specific competencies and certifications.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • In North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota, new graduates awaiting board testing may be considered if they possess a temporary license.
