Job description

Facilities Maintenance HVAC Technician

Reports To: Corporate Director of Facilities
Location: Multi-site (Corona HQ + All 7 Hospital Campuses)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary: $68,640 to $108,160 annually

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems across KPC Healthโ€™s seven hospitals and affiliated buildings in Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. The technician ensures that HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards to support critical healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R equipment including chillers, boilers, air handlers, VAV boxes, exhaust systems, and thermostats.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC systems across all campuses.
  • Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to ensure energy efficiency and comfort.
  • Maintain refrigerant logs and ensure compliance with EPA and Title 24 regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls across KPC hospitals and affiliated buildings.
  • Maintain documentation of inspections, repairs, and system performance.
  • Supervise temporary HVAC staff or vendors and coordinate outsourced services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to minimize downtime in patient care areas.
  • Maintain tools, inventory, and parts for efficient service delivery.
  • Follow all applicable safety, infection control, and hospital regulatory protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of commercial HVAC experience required; healthcare or multi-building experience strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
  • Valid CA Driverโ€™s License and reliable transportation.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC codes, safety standards, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
