Job description

Job Title: Prep Cook

FLSA Status: Temp - FT E
Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Rate of Pay: $375-$400/ weekly

Closing Date: 5/29/2026

Benefits: Temporary; Full-Time, employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:

  • Sick leave benefit – 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)

GENERAL DUTIES:

· Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.

· Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.

· Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.

· Assist with evening cabin activities.

· Attend and participate in Staff Orientation.

· Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, campfires, staff meetings and staff devotions

· Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Safety and Supervision

· Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures

· Responsible for the health and well-being of self and campers.

· Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times

· Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain group/staff control at specialized group activities so that other support staff can focus on safety.

· Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.

· Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.

· Attend relevant in-service trainings.

Weekly Responsibilities

· Assist Kitchen Manager, 2nd Cook, and Kitchen staff in maintaining kitchen cleanliness.

· Attend and participate in Staff Orientation

· Attend and participate in all camp wide activities, campfires, staff meetings and staff devotions, when able

· Assist kitchen supervisor in all duties.

· Assist in maintaining all functions a kitchen requires.

· Assist in maintaining proper cleanliness and sanitation standards in all areas of the kitchen.

· Perform all other duties and roles assigned.

  • Due to the particular nature of the camp program in session, you may be asked to assist in duties not directly related to this specific job description. This is necessary for the smooth operation of the camp. Staff members are expected to comply with all reasonable requests.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

· 18+ years of age.

· Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained at camp).

· Must have or obtain ServSafe certification at time of employment.

· Experience in foodservice and cleaning, preferably in camp setting.

· Familiar with USDA standards.

· Organizational and time management skills.

· Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift to 25 pounds. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
