Description
The CBJ Finance Department is looking for a short-term temporary Cashier to join our team and support
the Cash Office through the property tax season, one of our busiest times of the year.
We are looking to fill this position immediately through October 9, 2026.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Cash Office team is looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong attention to detail and excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in an open office environment that is friendly, oriented to the public, and subject to frequent work interruptions. This position requires a high degree of mobility including transitioning between standing, sitting, and walking frequently throughout the normal course of a day.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position is located in City Hall at 155 Heritage Way, and generally works Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm with a one-hour lunch break. Opportunities for additional overtime hours may be available at the end of September.
Typical Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Cash Office Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for cash handling, general customer service, data entry, and cash office support.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Typical responsibilities include (but may not be limited to):
  • Greet and provide excellent customer service to the public and other City employees at the front counter and on the telephone
  • Receive cash or check payments over the counter, by mail, or drop box and verify the amounts tendered, make change when necessary, issue receipts, and accurately record the payment in the cashiering subsystem
  • Research account information in the subsystem to verify proper entry and application of payments
  • Provide accurate account balance information to customers making payments
  • Prepare bank deposit slips and other cashier report forms necessary to balance payment batches to deposits
  • Maintain a cash till, including verifying the balance at the start and end of each workday and accounting for any overages or shortages

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Experience:
Three (3) months of clerical or customer service experience.
Other:
A valid Driver's License at time of appointment and for continued employment.
