Facility/Unit: Surgical Services โ€“ Sterile Processing
Shift: Day Shift
Hours: Mondayโ€“Friday, 8:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM
Schedule: Mโ€“F, No OT (Subject to change based on unit needs)
Call Requirements: 6 days/month, 1 weekend/month
Pay Rate: $34-$37/hr

Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) with a minimum of 1โ€“3 years of experience and at least 1 year of active certification. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering clean, sterilized instruments and equipment necessary for medical examinations, surgeries, and clinical procedures while ensuring strict compliance with infection prevention and sterilization standards.


Responsibilities

โ€ข Prepare and deliver clean and sterilized instruments and equipment for surgeries, examinations, and procedures

โ€ข Sterilize, wrap, organize, and assemble medical equipment and surgical instruments into trays

โ€ข Lay out surgical gloves and gowns prior to procedures

โ€ข Collect and manually clean contaminated instruments and equipment for sorting and decontamination

โ€ข Perform decontamination (Manual, Mechanical, High-Level Disinfection โ€“ HLD) using facility equipment

โ€ข Prepare and package decontaminated medical tools for sterilization

โ€ข Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (Steam & Low Temperature Sterilization)

โ€ข Inspect supplies meticulously to ensure cleanliness and functionality

โ€ข Report any sterilization equipment issues to supervisors and request replacements as needed

โ€ข Maintain detailed records of sterilization cycles, maintenance, and inventory

โ€ข Reorder medical and surgical supplies, monitor inventory, and check expiration dates

โ€ข Properly remove and dispose of medical waste

โ€ข Perform assembly and handling of general instrumentation, laparoscopic instruments, flexible endoscopes, and dental trays

โ€ข Demonstrate competency in handling facility-specific equipment and devices


Requirements

โ€ข Minimum 1โ€“3 years Sterile Processing experience

โ€ข Certified Sterile Processing Technician โ€“ CBSPD or CRCST (HSPA) required

โ€ข Must be certified for a minimum of 1 year

โ€ข AHA BLS required (cannot be within 30 days of expiration)

โ€ข Dental tray assembly experience required

โ€ข Decontamination experience โ€“ Manual, Mechanical, HLD using facility equipment required

โ€ข Assembly experience โ€“ Competent in care and handling of medical devices, equipment, and instruments required

โ€ข General instrumentation, laparoscopic instruments, and flexible endoscope experience required

โ€ข Sterilization experience โ€“ Steam & Low Temperature Sterilization required

โ€ข Pediatric experience highly desired

โ€ข Experience with Arthrex, Steris, Olympus equipment highly desired

โ€ข Preferred Certifications:

  • CER (HSPA) โ€“ Endoscope Reprocessor Certification
