POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Flagger will have responsibility for maintaining a safe work zone that ensures that traffic stays out of the way of the workers. This involves setting up and removing temporary cones and signs, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly through active work zones. The Flagger must be constantly aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required. This is a hands-on role, and the qualified candidate must be capable of determining the most effective means to performing the requirements of this position to maximize efficiency and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Position temporary work zones; utilizing warning signs, traffic cones, barrels, etc. per Utah DOT regulatory requirements and standards
  • Safely managing traffic through active work zones while standing, grasping a stop/slow paddle, and utilizing radio communication
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions; work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required for the position
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures
  • Must be able to communicate to contractor employees, co-workers, and supervisors effectively
  • Work well in a team environment
  • All other duties as assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certification (from ATSSA) as a Flagger is preferred
  • Flagger: 1 year of experience (Preferred)
