Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Freight Collections & Pickup Coordinator for a busy international freight forwarding operation in North Houston. This position is responsible for coordinating freight collections and pickups, communicating with customers, carriers, drivers, and internal operations teams, and ensuring shipments are collected and moved according to schedule.
The ideal candidate will have previous freight forwarding or transportation experience and a strong understanding of pickup coordination, trucking, shipment tracking, and customer communication.
Responsibilities
Coordinate daily freight collections and pickups with customers, carriers, and trucking companies.
Schedule local and regional pickups for import and export shipments.
Communicate pickup instructions, locations, reference numbers, and shipment requirements to carriers and drivers.
Monitor scheduled pickups and follow up to ensure freight is collected on time.
Track shipments and provide status updates to customers and internal operations teams.
Troubleshoot missed pickups, delays, driver issues, and other transportation-related problems.
Obtain and verify pickup confirmations and required shipping documentation.
Maintain accurate shipment information and notes within the transportation/freight management system.
Communicate professionally with customers, warehouses, airlines, trucking companies, and other service providers.
Work closely with air and ocean freight operations teams to meet shipment deadlines.
Assist with additional freight coordination and operational duties as needed.
Qualifications
Previous freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation experience required.
Hands-on experience coordinating freight pickups and collections strongly preferred.
Knowledge of domestic trucking and freight transportation processes.
Experience working in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple shipments, pickups, and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Comfortable communicating with drivers, carriers, customers, and operations personnel throughout the day.
Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and transportation/freight management systems.
CargoWise experience is a plus.
