Summary:

The Plant Human Resources Manager is an on-site position at the Plymouth plant responsible for leading the HR function for the manufacturing plant. This role will implement HR initiatives to increase organizational effectiveness, building capabilities of leaders, workforce, and HR team, with the goal of positively impacting the overall business performance and HR labor metrics.

This position reports to a regional Sr. HR Manager and serves as a member of the Plant Leadership Team.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support all recruiting and hiring activities for the facility.
  • Manages the relationship with contingent worker agencies; assures quantity and quality of temporary staffing to meet the production schedule. 
  • Supports onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a smooth and engaging new hire experience.
  • Develop and execute a proactive employee relations strategy that promotes positive communication, timely issue resolution, and fair, consistent policy administration.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies and practices; evaluate and recommend updates to work rules as needed. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to leaders on employee relations, policy interpretation, and disciplinary processes.
  • Drive consistency in HR-related business processes and operational procedures across the facility.
  • Conduct union vulnerability assessments and develop action plans to mitigate risk and strengthen employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with FMLA and support consistent disciplinary practices while driving initiatives to reduce absenteeism.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and FLSA.
  • Partner with EHS and Health Services to manage Workers' Compensation programs and case administration.
  • Collaborate with Health Services and Leave Administration teams to manage Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and leave of absence processes.
  • Facilitate leadership and employee development training programs.
  • Support and guide change management initiatives to ensure effective adoption across the organization.
  • Partner in the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of employee engagement initiatives and programs.
  • Contributes to human resource compliance efforts by ensuring guidelines and policies are consistent and enforced in the areas of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, etc.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, and influence the decision making of senior management
  • Proven leadership skills with experience in developing and implementing high impact programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws and regulations affecting the workplace
  • Ability to work collaboratively with and influence the plant leadership team
  • Strong floor presence with the ability to understand the pulse of employee morale
  • Demonstrated history of establishing and maintaining HR process excellence 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:  

  • Bachelor's Degree required; concentration in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred. Master's degree preferred 
  • At least 5 years' experience within Human Resources or related field
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory/management role
