JOB DESCRIPTION
CLASSIFICATION: Maintenance Mechanic 2
EFFECTIVE DATE: 12/04/24
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
Involved in the maintenance, repair and installation of industrial machinery, refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems in a food processing plant. Ensure that all production equipment is maintained and in proper operating order. Diagnose equipment and machinery failures or problems and take corrective action with minimal supervision. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and machinery and documents all reports and logs. Repairs and or replaces parts as needed including fabricating parts on lathes and milling machines, welding or soldering as required for the job. Works on refrigeration components and starts compressors as required. Uses variety of hand and power tools, saws, and welding equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production line and facility equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance routines on all equipment
  • Assist in the design and installation of new equipment or layouts
  • Assist with the operation of production line equipment
  • Assist in the other areas of plant maintenance as needed
  • Maintain proper housekeeping in all areas
  • Must be able to participate in company's emergency response team
  • All other duties as assigned by management
  • Trouble shooting and diagnosis of mechanical and electrical failures.
  • Gearbox and Motor replacements
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble production equipment
  • Basic mechanical rebuilds of small mechanical equipment
  • Understanding of low voltage safety circuits
  • Ability to weld different metals - mainly stainless steel

REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Courses from a junior college or technical institute, job-related seminars, and ongoing education
  • Pump repairs - centrifugal and positive displacement
  • System troubleshooting techniques including schematic reading
  • Construction electrical skills
  • Experience with utility-related equipment boilers, water systems, air compressors, HVAC
  • Experience with automated and high-speed packaging equipment
  • Knowledge of and experience with computerized maintenance management systems
  • Able to troubleshoot pneumatic and mechanical equipment - 4 years
  • Electrical Experience - 2-3
  • Welding experience - 1-3 years
