Fire Protection Consultant

Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications

A well-established multi-discipline engineering practice is looking for a Fire Protection Consultant to join its team on a remote basis within New England or New York. This is a permanent, full-time role with real room to grow, working alongside a collaborative group of engineers across multiple disciplines on a varied and interesting project portfolio.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a firm with a strong culture built on loyalty, technical quality, and looking after its people. You would be joining a tight-knit fire protection team where your contribution is visible from day one, with direct access to leadership and genuine influence over the direction of the department.

The work spans a mix of sectors including industrial, commercial, and healthcare, covering both code consulting and fire protection systems design. If you are looking for variety, responsibility, and the chance to be part of something that is growing, this is worth a conversation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire and life safety code analyses, building code evaluations, and plan reviews across a range of facility types.
  • Prepare fire protection system design documents, including hydraulic calculations and preliminary system layouts and specifications.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical teams on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Carry out construction administration reviews and periodic site visits.
  • Develop fire protection strategies and code alternatives in collaboration with project teams and clients.
  • Prepare and review technical reports and project documentation.
  • Build and maintain client relationships as a trusted technical resource.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, or a related engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical).
  • 3-10+ years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering, life safety code consulting, or a combination of both.
  • PE designation preferred, or on track for licensure.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload in a consulting environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work directly with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.

Additional Details

  • Annual performance bonus of up to 10%
  • 100% company-paid health insurance
  • Summer half-day Fridays
  • Support for professional development and continuing education
We thank all applicants for their interest, however, only those under consideration will be contacted.
