Job description

Position Summary

The Resource Specialist serves as one of the first points of contact for neighbors seeking assistance through Compassion Corsicana. This position provides compassionate customer service while assisting individuals and families with the application process for available programs and community resources. The Resource Specialist is responsible for greeting visitors, answering phones, processing applications, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring each neighbor is treated with dignity, and respect.


Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome neighbors, volunteers, and visitors in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner.
  • Assist neighbors in completing applications for Compassion Corsicana programs and services.
  • Review applications for completeness and accuracy before submitting them for eligibility review.
  • Explain program guidelines, eligibility requirements, and available services.
  • Connect neighbors with internal programs and appropriate community resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls appropriately.
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding services, programs, and community resources.
  • Schedule appointments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate client records in the organization's database.
  • Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Attend community events and presentations
  • Support other office and program related tasks as assigned by supervisor.  

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • Experience in customer service, social services, or nonprofit organizations preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn client management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Hours are Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with some evening and weekends for special events. Pay is based on education and experience.
