What is a temporary financial analyst H1B?

A Temporary Financial Analyst H1B is a financial analyst employed on a non-permanent basis in the United States under the H1B visa program. The H1B visa allows U.S. employers to hire foreign professionals in specialty occupations, such as finance, for a specified period, typically up to three years with possible extensions. Temporary financial analysts on H1B visas assist with financial modeling, analysis, forecasting, and reporting, supporting corporate decision-making. Their role is crucial during peak periods, project-based work, or when specialized expertise is needed on a short-term basis.

What are the typical responsibilities and expectations for a temporary financial analyst on an H1B visa?

As a Temporary Financial Analyst on an H1B visa, you can expect to handle tasks such as financial modeling, data analysis, budget tracking, and preparing reports to support decision-making. These roles often require you to quickly adapt to new systems and collaborate closely with accounting, operations, and management teams. Since the assignment is temporary, you may be expected to deliver results within tight deadlines and efficiently integrate into ongoing projects. The Workday Financial Analyst serves as a key liaison between the FVSU finance team and the University System of Georgia (USG) implementation team to support a successful ERP deployment and effective long-term use of Workday Financials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the USG implementation team to support the configuration of Workday Financials modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Projects, Revenue Management, Asset Management, Cash Management, and Close and Consolidation.
  • Perform audits, reconciliations, and data-quality reviews to support the accuracy and completeness of financial data throughout implementation.
  • Support alignment of financial data and processes with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development of financial reporting structures and dashboards and leverage accurate financial data to enhance analytics and inform decision-making.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and other business stakeholders to evaluate current processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend opportunities for automation and workflow improvement.
  • Serve as a liaison among Finance, Information Technology, business units, and the USG implementation team to align Workday functionality with operational needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and document requirements for system enhancements and integrations.
  • Provide end-user support and assist with troubleshooting and resolution of Workday Financials system issues.
  • Develop and deliver training and guidance to users to support system adoption and effective use of Workday Financials.

  • Experience with data analysis, regulatory compliance, and system security.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear information for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and other functional areas.
  • Ability to evaluate business processes and identify opportunities for workflow optimization and automation.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Three to five or more years of experience supporting Workday Financials or similar ERP systems.
  • Minimum of two years of experience leading and managing Workday implementation efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a Workday Financials implementation within higher education, the public sector, or another complex, decentralized organization.
  • Experience working within a University System of Georgia institution or comparable multi-entity environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial data conversion, validation, reconciliation, or ERP implementation testing.
  • Experience developing financial reports, dashboards, calculated fields, or other decision-support tools in Workday.
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing, system readiness activities, or post-implementation stabilization.
  • Experience documenting business processes, functional requirements, system configurations, or standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts involving Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, and operational stakeholders.
  • Workday certification, formal Workday training, or relevant professional certification in finance, accounting, information systems, or project management.
